Canning Dock, Royal Albert Dock Complex, Liverpool - National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port Tuesday 10th June 2025 1030 – 1530 hrs
This five-hour cruise starts within the Royal Albert Dock complex where we will be moored in Canning Dock, and finishes where the Shropshire Union Canal joins the Manchester Ship Canal at what is now the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port. We'll enter the River Mersey via the lock at Canning Half-tide entrance and you can sit back and take in the lovely Wirral and Liverpool Waterfronts whilst enjoying the sensory delights of a steamship! A commentary will be provided by Captain Dan Cross, the founder and driving force behind the restoration of The Danny. We will pass the Cammell Laird shipyard and the Tranmere Oil terminal during our cruise before entering the Manchester Ship Canal via Eastham Lock and continuing our journey to the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port.
If arriving by car, we suggest you park at The National Waterways Museum car park (CH65 4FW) which is free of charge, and our coach will collect you at 0930 hrs and take you to the start of your cruise in The Royal Albert Dock. That way your car is waiting for you at the end of the cruise. If you are making your own way to The Royal Albert Dock for the start of the cruise, there are excellent public transport connections with the nearest underground rail station being Liverpool James Street. Please note, if you make your own way to The Danny, that there is no coach transport back to Royal Albert Dock at the end of your cruise, but there is a rail station at Ellesmere Port approximately 20-minutes walk from our berth.
All details will be on your ticket confirmation. More information on the cruise route can be found here.
